- what are the different responsibilities of presenters and producers?
- Will (Producer) wakes up at 4am, in by 5am.
- Make sure they briefly follow the script, but have free rein to talk about other topics.
- Always have an idea for the next day, make sure they go home knowing potential topics.
- Think ahead of the show and what you're going to do in the next few minutes too.
- Fiona (assistant producer) talks to the guests before to ensure they sound the best on air for the millions of guests, and brief them about what happened in the show and ensure they don't curse, promote brands or be rude.
- Never always on the same show, tend to change as it is a fast quick pace environment.
- Producer always is trying to help teach the assistant producer.
- Nick (Presenter) writes down things he finds funny, humerus, serious or a topic that needs approaching.
- The bosses don't overwhelm the team about stats, they want it to sounds how it should sound and they know good radio.
- Have a music team to programme the music, pre-programmed so no songs are overlapped.
- They can pick and ask which famous people they want for the show or even get emails from people to let them know certain people are in town and wanting to come on the show.
- what preparation goes into each programme?
- Leave the previous day knowing what guests will be on, things to talk about, first few hours of the show they look at topics to make sure they are as up to date and recent as possible.
- a script gets produced to follow, but not like a book which you have to read sentence for sentence but it is only guide line, flexible.
- The team meets and comes up with ideas for the show, but depending on what is happening on the show, for example, if they have a big celebrity guest like Shawn Mendes, they will all have a meeting to discuss things to talk about as it is a very important time in the show when guests are on.
- Ensure they have at least 5 topics to talk about for the next show.
- Have a Whats App group to share some ideas and topics they think about or enjoy.
- what's the most challenging and most enjoyable about working on the show?
- Waking up at 4am and getting in for 5am.
- Enjoy having guests on the show and playing games and having contests.
- Whole team gets on well which makes work more enjoyable.
- The audience makes you happy.
- Making sure that the topics are fresh and up to date.
- sometimes get difficult guests and have to cut them short.
- what are the team dynamic like?
- Get along, and understand each other makes the best team.
- 'Dis-functional family'.
- Changes quite a lot, but all have a good bond especially with the producer.
- Friends and interested in each others interests, make sure they make the show enjoyable for what they like.
